No beep code No video

I am building a new machine using the following :
1. Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLI motherboard
2. Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (dual core)
3. EVGA 6800 GS video card
4. Kingston VRAM DDR400 2 Gig

When I power on the CPU fan works, the hard disk led lights up..but no
video.
The keyboard numlock light works as well.

My case does not have a speaker in it. Do I need to connect a speaker
to the speaker pins near the reset button in order to hear the beep
codes? Or does the motherboard have an onboard speaker ? The
motherboard manual does not mention anything about an onboard speaker.

How do I proceed?

Thanks,
S

Look for a small cylinder, black with a hole in the top. Pizo type speakers
have been used for awhile now.
If it doesn't have one, I'm not surprised, just another stupid thing
companies do to save money.

The

Remove all but the PSU CPU Video memory.
Reseat the video card.
Make sure that your PSU is up to the task and ALL the connectors are
connected(many new vid cards have a power lead that needs a connector from
the PSU.

Thanks, I confirmed from Giga byte that the board does not have an
onboard speaker. Most new cases don't seem to have either. No one seems
to carry them anymore. Will probably end up having to replace the case,
with one that has a speaker and then whatever else is broken.
Thanks

there must be an audio out if the manual mentions beeper codes.
if you can find the audio out pins, you can attach any small
speaker to them. Just duck tape the speaker anywhere.

If your board has integrated video, I'd try using that, and if not,
because you aren't sure if the vid card is ok or not, I'd use an
old pci video card to get the system going, and then pull it
and see what happens with the new card.
