Tweak UI Bug

V

Vince

Anyone heard of this problem?

I just downloaded tweak UI for XP and was looking into it. The only change I
even thought to make was the Icon arrow for short cuts. I just clicked the
options but did not change them went back to the original. For some reason I
did hit save instead of exit. Now here is the bug. When I went to use a
program I just downloaded the newest zone alarm the thing had changed to
think it was a shortcut. It appears that Tweak UI thinks everything on the
desktop is a shortcut. This is simply where I downloaded my file.

This is annoying because I am on dial up. I can not get anything else and
now I have to redownload the file again because it is not useable.

Could this have messed up anything else. I am in a testing phase of a new
machine and would hate to blame programs for problems that are related to
what heppened here.

Are you sure that you downloaded the correct version of TweakUI for Windows XP? I've
never had a problem with the icon shortcuts, and I have experimented with that tweak. But
if you did download the correct version, and it has caused a problem: FIRST go to Control
Panel/Add or Remove Programs, remove TweakUI, then go to System Restore, and opt to
Restore my computer to an earlier time, and select a Restore Point just prior to the
problem (anything that was installed after that Restore Point will have to be
reinstalled).

Nope. Been using tweak ui for xp for years now and never saw that before. I
just tried it to check and the shortcut arrow chnages fine for shortcuts,
but does not touch anything else on the desktop.

Yep got the program right from the window xp power tools page. I guess I
will just rebuild the machine again. This is why I am testing programs
before I use them on my computer. I do not want any restores while testing
programs so I know exactly what to expect when I use them on my computer in
the future.

Atleast doing it his way I already know of many programs I will not use and
this is going to be one of them.
