turning off power

I upgraded a box from 98 to 2000 pro and now I can't
physically turn the computer off; pushing the power button
does nothing and holding the button in for a minute or so,
restarts the computer.
I switched power button and the result is the same. I've
run through the Power Options and bios settings, and
nothing seems to help. I can't think of anything else...
any suggestions?

try

Start
Run
type
Regedit

<Registry Editor Opens>

Navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SOFTWARE
Microsoft\Windows NT
CurrentVersion
Winlogon

right hand pane option

PowerdownAfterShutdown

The value should be set to 0 not 1

hope that helps?

PS You also may want to check if the motherboard manufacturer for you PC
has any BIOS updates available.

Thanks- I'll give it a try, took me a few days to get
back to look for replies (busy).
