Say I wanted to turn my Windows XP machine into a wireless access
point. How would I do that? Would enabling Internet Connection
Sharing be sufficient?

My son bought a USB device that lets him use other peoples connections
and also broadcast his connection to the pc's with wireless in our home.
Not very fast at all, but very cheap.

You would need to purchase and install a wireless router.

I have one, already. However, let's just say that a router does not
suite my purposes. I want to send wireless traffic through a
*computer* so that I may perform an analysis of the traffic - an
analysis that I would not be able to perform with a router.

If you must know, specifically, I'm trying to capture packets sent by
select mobile devices with Wireshark. I can't install Wireshark on
these devices nor can I install it on a router.
