Turn the tips off

R

Ron

Does anyone know how to get rid of the pesky "Balloon Tips" from the task
bar? I have tried "Tweak UI" and it won't turn the feature off. I have check
the registry and Tweak UI does change the "Enable Balloon Tips" value form 1
to 0 but they won't go away. I have tried changing the value from 1 to 0, 0
to 1, warm boot and cold boot, and they're still here.

Thanks, Ron

If you remove the tooltips your day/date
(when you place cursor over clock) might also disappear.

Scroll to the bottom and UNcheck:
[_] Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items

Tried it, same thing. Whenever you put the mouse pointer over an item in the
taskbar, like the IE or Desktop shortcut, you still get the big balloon
description.

To quickly get rid of Balloon Tips, just download and install TweakUI,
one of the Microsoft Powertoys for Windows XP at:

http://www.microsoft.com/WINDOWSXP/pro/downloads/powertoy s.asp

After installing TweakUI, open it (Start
button/Programs/Powertoys for Windows XP/TweakUI for
Windows XP), click the Taskbar heading, and in the
right pane remove the check mark from the Enable Balloon Tips option,
