I am assuming that you got your setup information here:
http://users.westelcom.com/rogersr/setupoe.htm
Your email account and your newsgroup account are two separate issues.
You can have a newsgroup account without having an email account.
When you setup a newsgroup, you put a server name.
Did you use 'msnews.microsoft.com' for the server name?
Did you pick this newsgroup?
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
Did you subscribe to the newsgroup?
A new folder will be added to the Folders window.
msnews.microsoft.com
Clicking on the plus sign in front of msnews.microsoft.com will show all of
the newsgroups under that server.
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress should be listed.
Clicking on microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress will
open that newsgroup.
Posts and replies to a newsgroup are sent through a newsgroup server.
Your email account is not used.

thanks kelly, yeah this is unusual. ok, i have outlook express with an old
email address that recieves email but cannot send. it was through charter
communications using a high speed modem. now i no longer have the modem or
charter. i have a 56 k modem using msn. i tried setting up newsgroup email
through outlook e, using links and info from the helpful regulars on here.
my problem is i still can't set up the newsgroup.
i think i have to delete the old email account and set up a different
one. if i click on a link someone gives me, i can go to outlook e and send
and recieve answers on the ng but once i click out of outlook e, i can't
get it back or add it while it's there. i'm confusing myself. and also, i
don't want to use my hotmail address since people have been spam warned
about putting their real ea on here.
