I am running windows 2000 with IE6. I have this program called update
manager by InstallShield on my computer. I never installed this and now I
can't remove it from my computer. I went to add/remove programs but it was
not listed. I went to my C:/ to delete and did but its still on my
computer. How do I completely remove this program. Also I have programs in
my add/remove file that I want to remove but it won't let me because it was
deleted from my harddrive through the C:/ program file. How do I do this?

Thanx

Try this tool, it will delete everything from your MSI database:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

Furthermore check for it´s directory on your harddisk, delete the
content. If it can not be deleted because it is accessed, kill check
for .exe files in the program directory and stop them in Task
manager/processes.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and check for this .exe file and remove it, too.

Bye the way, this newsgroup stinks, hardly nobody here who can really
help me :(

It comes along with some products. What was the last thing you
installed before it started appearing? I got it with an HP printer.
It should tell you what its checking for updates on.
Its broken. I have it set to check monthly, but it checks weekly.
Haven't tried to remove it. Too minor of an annoyance (for now anyway).

Then put a clothespin on your nose before you come here! But the reason
it stinks is probably because you didn't change your diaper...

Your problems are mostly self inflicted. Removing programs by deleting
the program folder is an incredibly stupid thing to do and even the most
novice computer users know that!
