trying to install network printing...access denied

I'm trying to print from my client computer and cannot. When I try to
add a printer and use the browse function it does not even see the
printer on my network. When I type the address and printer name
manually it says "Cannot could not connect to printer. Access is
denied." I've tried to install the print driver on my client but that
requires me to specify a port, and I don't have the option of
specifying my host computer or a TCP/IP port. I can only use a Com port
or others that are local to my client. Please help. I'm just totally
baffled. Last night I spent over an hour on another problem related to
network printing. I feel like this has some easy answer that I'm just
overlooking.

I forgot to mention that this is not a network printer but just a
regular photo printer.
