Did you purchase a legitimate, licensed version of Nero?
If you did, there should not be installation issues.

Purge all your temp directories before running the installation (%temp%,
%windir%\temp, and any <d>:\temp where <d> is a drive letter). Then try
again. Could be some crap got left behind from a prior install or a
failed install and is interferring with the new install.

You could try contacting Ahead about their Nero software. I don't know
if they will provide support for an OEM version of their product or
force you to call whomever you bought the CD burner for support.

are you signed on as Administrator - some of these strange error message
come back when you are not the Administrator.

I have a similar problem
"1607: unable to install installshield scripting runtime"
when trying to install Sophos Enterprise Manager.
Have spoken to Sophos, and they say it is a windows problem, I have to re-install installshield, but this can be done with other operating systems, not Windows XP. There is no help on MS website. Tried cleaning all the temp files, even re-run the XP installation, still no good. Any help much appreciated..
