Trying to Create a Dial Up Connection--Problem...

C

Chaim Caron

I'm trying to create a new dial up connection in order to use a
dial up modem but Win2K/Pro is telling me: "You are restricted from running
the internet connection wizard. Contact your network administrator for more
information." However, this machine is in my home office and there is no
network administrator except, unfortunately, for me!

Here are the steps I'm taking:
1. right-click on My Network Places
2. select properties
3. click on Make New Connection
4. Wizard--welcome page: click on Next
5. Wizard--Network Connection Type page: click on Dial-up to the Internet,
then click Next
6. I receive message: "Access Denied", "You are restricted from running the
Internect Connection Wizard. Contact your Network Administrator for more
information."

What does this mean and how do I proceed? Thanks!

Hmm, perhaps I'm doing the wrong thing. Actually, I don't want to connect
to the internet, I want to be able to use a modem for PCAnywhere connection
to another computer using a telephone line. If I am doing the wrong thing,
then what do I have to do in order to configure the system to use a modem
for dial up to another modem via PCAnywhere? Thanks.
