troublesome e-mail

I have an e-mail message that causes a "program not responding" situation
when i click on it. I have a good virus protection program and tried a virus
scan but nothing shows up. How do I get rid of this e-mail message?

Place cursor on message and select Shift+Delete. Select Yes when asked
to confirm,
