Cannot Send E-mail - Get Error Message

Cannot send E-mail . . . Get an error message.

My Operating System is Win XP2, Outlook Express, Comcast High Speed Fiber
Optics Internet.

Today, when I try to send an E-mail, I get this error message:

Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks.
Please review the list of errors below for more details.

Under errors - nothing is listed
under tasks - Send 8 messages using "POP3"
Warning Local Area Network
Outbox - All messages are placed in the outbox

I am receiving E-mail, but I cannot send an E-mail.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Either the Outbox, or Sent Items is corrupt.

Do the following for the Outbox, and Sent Items after you move any messages
you wish to save to a local folder you create.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of
your Outlook Express files. Write the location down and navigate to it in
Windows Explorer or, copy and paste it into Start | Run.

In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable
Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options
Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View.

With OE closed, find the Outbox.dbx and Sent Items.dbx file and delete them.
New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

To help prevent this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become
corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your
mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created
folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible.

After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while
working *offline* and do it often.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the
Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until
the compacting is completed.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as
time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will
continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:

In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and
leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2 or SP3}.

.. . . for your knowledgeable and helpful response.

I appreciate your expertise and your willingness to help the novices.

I have some additional questions:

To my Inbox Folder, and to my Sent Folder,
I have several subfolders that I have created.
Do I need to delete all of the subfolders also?

Also, will MS Outlook hold more E-mail without becoming corrupted
than Outlook Express?

Which E-mail program is best:
MS Outlook or Outlook Express?

You're welcome.

If you replied to my last response, this would have been crossposted to the
OE newsgroup and I would have seen it sooner.

Subfolders are fine as they are and no need to delete them. You can have as
many as you want and they can be under any folder you want. They have
separate dbx files and do not affect the folder they are attached to.

OE can hold as much mail as you want, just not in one folder. Some people
create another non-working identity and use it just for archiving. As far as
specifics for Outlook go, you would have to ask there. I have no personal
knowledge.
