Trouble with Login

My computer has no trouble starting up but when I get to
the welcome screen and click on my name to login, it
takes 2 or 3 minutes--much longer than the usual 5 or 6
seconds XP Home usually takes to start up.

I've run virus scans, but am afraid that maybe I deleted
something by accident?

It sounds like you have a lot of background startup

programs that are makeing your computer take a long time
to log in. Run "Msconfig" via the Start menu and clear
out all of the non essential startup programs.
