Login problem

A description of the scenario:
XP Professional laptop stand-alone unit (not in a network).
I have been using the computer for 8months. After pressing ‘ctrl+alt+delete’
in the Welcome window, login window appears with user name and when I type my
password I have been entering into start menu. Now about after 8 months one
fine morning after pressing ‘ctrl+alt+delete’ some other login window appears
where the original user name does not appear but some other user name comes.
When I type the original user name and type my regular password the computer
answers:
"The local policy of the system does not permit you to logon interactively"

If I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete while at the welcome screen and try to login
manually to the administrator account it tells me:

"check the user name, password and domain".

I tried to reset the password, but it seems that the problem is relative to
the permissions of the users.

The same behavior occurs in the safe mode.

Could you help me?

All tips are very welcome.

Are you the only user of this laptop?

The different username in the logon box points to someone else having logged
onto the machine. Unless it's disabled with a GP the last logon normally
shows up.

Also, since you're getting the username/password error for the administrator
account as well it appears that it's been changed as well unless you've
forgotten what the original one was.

daer "Mike Chidodo"
thanks for the response.
I am the only user of this laptop. Priviouly I was only logged onto this
machine. I have turned off the computer myself in the privious session.
Nobody has disabled with a GP.

I have tried all the passwords which I remember(for aministrator) but I am
not able to logon.
any solutions?
