Trouble with Login

My startup is fine, but whenever I click on the welcome
screen to login, it takes 2 or 3 minutes to respond
instead of the usual few seconds. I've already adjusted
startup configurations using msconfig. What else can I
try?

Cathay, if you mean when you click on your User Profile Icon, then go here
and download TweakUI for WinXP.
It has a feature that you can bypass the logon and automatically get to
windows.
