Trouble with DVD

until recently my dvd player (WinDVD) was working fine. now nearly all of the files for winDVD are missing, including the application launcher. the cd/dvd drive still works (plays cd's etc) but i can't play dvd movies (in realplayer, medaplayer etc). i can't think of anything i've done that could have caused this. does anyone have any suggestions

This is a software DVD player? Reinstall it, or another player. Some are
available on the Net.

Have you tried to reinstall WinDVD?
