Playing DVD on WinXP hangs?!?!

I'm trying to play a DVD on WinXP using WinDVD. I have the latest WinXP
patches and WinDVD. I have a Pioneer A04 DVD drive. When I put in a recent
DVD (Transporter 2, Red Eye), as soon as I try to hit the DVD drive in any
fashion, command prompt, explorer, windvd, any dvd software, etc) that
application hangs, and can't even be killed through task manager. Booting up
with a DVD in the drive prevents the OS from booting up. I've tried a few
older DVDs and they seem to work fine. I think the newest DVD I watched on
the PC was National Treasure. I dont recall having any problems with that.
Any ideas? I've tried removing the DVD drive and reinstalling it, but no
luck and other DVDs are working, just not this latest batch. Any ideas on
whats going on?
