Trouble using Win 2000 with Win XP and a router

My problem is with Win2000. I can get the Win XP laptop
to look at all the shared files and to share the printer
that is on the Win2000 desktop computer.

But I can not get the Win 2000 computer to even see the
workgroup thus the Win XP laptop. Any ideas or
suggestions as to what to look at...where to go to change
a setting or configuration?

First thing to check is that the ICF built in firewall is disabled on the XP
machine, assuming you have a firewall at the cable/dsl modem to protect it. ---
