Trouble updating windows movie maker

I have updated my windows with Microsoft update, both with express and
custom. I have all updates. Unfortunately windows movie maker doesn't seem
to update. The version I have is 2.0.3312.0
I'm having trouble with this version since wmm freezes when I import video
files.

How can I get wmm version 2.1?

WMM 2.1 comes with Windows XP SP2.
Do you have SP2 installed?
If not then install SP2 to get WMM2.1.
If you have SP2 then click Start -> Run and navigate to: "C:\Program
Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe"
Once the program opens see if it is version 2.1.4026 or not.
