Trouble Re-installing Windows Components

I want to re-install some Windows Components, including Outlook Express (I'm
having some Outlook Express problems where the preview pane is very slow in
displaying a message when you click on it). When I go to the Add/Remove
Programs Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Windows Components, I get the
following error:

Setup library desk.cpl could not be loaded, or function DisplayOcSetupProc
could not be found.

Contact your system adminstrator. The specific error code is 0x7e.

I re-installed Windows XP SP2 (I have all of XP SP2 and Office XP Pro
updated to the most current level). But, the problem didn't go away.

Any suggestions?

Hi...
How to Reinstall Outlook Express in Windows XP
Search your hard disk for a file named Msoe50.inf. It should be in your
\Windows\Inf folder, although your Windows folder might have a different
name. Right click on the Msoe50.inf file and click the Install command.
You'll be asked for your Windows XP CD, so make sure you have that handy.
Follow the installation routine's instructions and you'll get Outlook
Express up and running again

Thanks for your response. I did this and re-installed Outlook Express.
Unfortunately, the problem I described below (where I can't use the
Add/Remove Windows Components button in the Add/Remove Programs Control
Panel) as well as my original problem (Outlook Express is very slow (7-8
seconds) in displaying a message in the preview pane, including for messages
I have already downloaded onto my PC) are still not solved.

Other suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem and haven't been able to find anyone or
anyway to resolve it......would really appreciate any help as well. Sorry I'm
not replying with an answer but maybe someone else will read the message and
know the fix!
