It sounds as though you need a "text converter", which is available on the Micorsoft website; http://search.microsoft.com/search/results.aspx?view=en-us&st=b&na=82&qu=text+converters I used "text converters" in the search window. You can refine the search by searching for the version of Word that you need or your co-workers need.
