Trouble Installing HP LaserJet

Ok, strange situation:

I am having trouble installing a HP LaserJet 1020 printer. If I use a
(self made) component or attempt to install and point the wizard to the
inf by hand it ends with a "INF file does not contain the required
section." and refuses to install the printer.

I have another device (different hardware) that I did successfully
install the same driver to (by hand) and it is working.

I was then tasked to make a new hardware platform work so I had to
start from scratch in target designer. I have brought over everything I
can think of (USB Printing Support, DOT4, etc..) to no avail.

It got to the point where I questioned the hardware so I put XPP on the
box and pluged in the printer, point it to the INF and a test page
comes happily out. I think I am missing a class installer or something.

PLEASE Has anyone come across this or similar situation? I have walked
both SLX files and I can not see why one would work and the other would
not. I have eliminated a hardware issue (by using XP Pro) so I know it
is a problem with my XPE build.

Thank you in advance.

Andrew

Thank you for your advice I had completly forgotten about setupapi.log
(I was not installing the printer via FBA).

That led me down the path that the setupapi was not finding a class
entry.

It was exactly what I had said I was missing the Class Installer -
Printers (so simple :() I must have jsut overlooked it when comparing.

THANK YOU so much for a point in the right direction.

Andrew,

Quick question - do you have "Do not copy help files for this configuration" flag set on your configuration settings page, and do
you have "Do not copy help files for this component" flag set on the printer driver component settings page? If you do, please clean
both check-boxes, rebuild the image and try it again on the target hardware. It may help.

Ahh.. Should've read all the new posts first.

Please disregard my previous reply in this thread. Obviously without the Printer class installer you wouldn't be able to install
printer drivers at all :)

Thank you for your time to respond KM.

Yes it was a stupid oversight. I am just wondering why USB Printing and
such does not have a dependancy on the Class Installer???

Posting the EXACT error message and keywords googling purposes:

the required section was not found in the INF

missing class

setupapi.log
