Trial Edition Download Fails - Windows XP embedded web install

Greetings,
At work we have a proxy server. I'm trying to download the trial edition of
Windows XP embedded and it fails every time. There is no place I see I can
input the proxy server info.
Does anybody know if it's possible to download through a proxy server?
Thanks!

Justin,

It really depends on how the Proxy is configured. Some Proxy servers will
not allow websites' systems to pass things back through the firewall. There
is a pop-up once you register, that takes you to a "Get Started" page... you
need to write down the Product Key that is displayed next to the Button for
XPE, then once you press the button for XPE, it takes you to a MSDN site...
this download requires that Microsoft validate your Windows product. (if
you're using a bootleg copy, you are dead at this point), but the tool that
checks comes as an ActiveX component. if you are not seeing this, then your
proxy is blocking it. have your Network Admin put an exception in the proxy
server for both http://windowsembeddedkit.com* and
http://msdn.microsoft.com* (where the * denotes everything below the root
URL)

Thanks for responding JC.
Actually the OS check does work. I probably won't be able to get an
exception on the proxy server as the company is pretty large and a lot of red
tape would have to be cut.
The problem is evident when the "Windows XPE Wed Install" window is open and
at the top I have the check boxes for what I want to download. Then I can
set the directory to download to and then at the bottom I click on start
download. At first the window populates with serveral packages with the
status set to queued. After that each package starts to error out. I am
able to download most things here at work through the proxy server and each
time I've come to a road block like this typically it turns out to the
software that was not written for proxy server situations.
I guess this may be one of those times. I'll have to download this at home
probably. On a side note I can download software through the msdn
subscription site through MS' installer there. It does have a section where
I can setup the download to go through a proxy server.
Thanks Again!
