My old computer died a little while ago but I re-covered the hard drive. I
now have the hardrive attached to my new computer thru a USB port and I am
trying to re-cover my old e-mail & especially my contacts.

In the past, someone did a search for my Outlook .pst file and we copied and
pasted it into the new computer. BUT! I can't even find a .pst file on either
computer.

Is there a new name for the file? Is it hidden somewhere? Once I do find it,
where do I put it?

Thanks!

How exactly do I find it?

Thanks

Open Windows Explorer and enter this in the Address field:

%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Click Go.

Can someone explain to me how to do this?

Click Search in Windows Explorer. Click "More advanced options". Check the
boxes labeled "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search subfolders"

Enable your search to include hidden folders.

I have the same problem. Ihave migrated all the programs and settings from my
old computer to the new using PCmove, but there are no e-mails and addresses.
I can find the pst file, but when I try to copy it to CD rom and use it in
the new computer it tells me that access is denied. The pst file on the old
computer is not read-only, but the copy is. Any help would be appreciated.

I found the answer myself in Microsoft article 258468 and the link
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm An answer in another
thread pointed me to the latter.
