Trouble moving .pst files from old computer to new

White River Guy

I'm using Outlook 2003 on both the old and new computers. I exported all my
folders and data to a new .pst file then archived everything over a year old.
I then copied the .pst folder to the new computer with a CD and have been
trying to copy it into the C:\Documents and Settings\myname\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook folder. The last time I got it
to start working without some type of error message it locked up the machine.
The .pst file is 700,00KB. The size may be the problem. Anyone know why
this won't work?

Only the reasons we post here every day.
1. You never transfer Outlook data by exporting it. You already have an
Outlook data file. Just copy the file. Exporting simply loses or corrupts
the data.
2. You never copy an Outlook data file to the default directory. That will
very often overwrite another PST file and will fail to connect the file to
Outlook. It will likely corrupt your Outlook profile.
Correct transfer methods are posted here several times a day.

Because you didn't take the trouble to research first before embarking on
the most incorrect way of doing it.

Posted here and on all the Outlook groups at LEAST once a day:
