Installing Outlook 2003 11.5608.5606 on a new computer with Windows XP Home
ED 2002 SP2

Installation is complete and the primary account is created and it works
great, sending and receiving.

I wish to copy my outlook data file from the old computer, outlook.pst,
which contains all my mail, folders, contacts, rules, etc.

When I copy my outlook.pst file from my old computer, Outlook 2002, to the
new one, overwriting the file that Outlook just created, a problem occurs
and I can no longer receive mail.

I have now reinstalled Outlook 2003 and recreated the primary account. I can
now send and receive mail once again. What is the correct procedure for
porting the datafile from the old computer to the new computer?

NEVER NEVER overwrite the existing pst file.
Copy the old pst file to your HDD SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Then, the easiest option is to go to Control Panel-Mail, add the new pst
file and make it the default delivery location.
