Total Uninstall: free version or buy?

Hi,

Should i buy (oh oh ... the wrong word in this area ;-) or use version 2.34
of Total uninstall?

I want to try some shareware (i need for my work) without spoiling my
system. Now i've looked to Total Uninstall and ask myself if the version
2.34 is good enough for Win XP.

(or are there any alternatives?)

I'm using the latest v2.35 with XP-Pro-Sp2 but I haven't actually
uninstalled any progs using it yet so I can't say how thorough it is
at cleaning up, particularly when a prog is updated later on with
a new version and I have multiple TI entries.
Do I have to uninstall in the same sequence etc? Who knows.
(or are there any alternatives?)

I'm not aware of any but there might be.

Yes, I use TUn on Win XP Pro and it works well.
Actually, I've v2.35 installed (last freeware). I don't remember which are
the changes from 2.34 to 2.35, however.

Before using it, read carefully the included help file!

I use a combo of freeware progs regshot and undo reg.
I can specify in regshot which folders to monitor for files added
during installation. (I choose Windows and Documents and Settings).
I can then remove these files by hand if I don't like what I see.I use
regshot to automatically remove any registry entries that were added.

Advantages of this method
1. Faster than Total Uninstall
2.I can see exactly which files and which registry entries have been
added.

Disadvantages
1. Unwanted Files need to be uninstalled manually
2. Method does not work if a restart is required during installation
3. You need to save the uninstall information yourself (TI does it
automatically)

Winpooch is another useful freeware in this context

The last freeware version is 2.35 and the download link is here:

It's configurable enough that there's no reason it shouldn't work with XP.

What about modified entries? Does it capture those?
