Total Backup without a Floppy Disk

Windows XP full backup requires a floppy disk for
restoring. MY laptop does not have a floppy. Is there a
way to do this backup with a CD Rom boot disk or some
other way?

If you are talking about using ASR from NTbackup, no there is no other
way. It needs a floppy. NTbackup is an archaic program and the ASR
recovery environment is severely lacking. There are many other better
options for backing up the system including disk imaging programs like
Drive Image 7 from Symantec, Norton Ghost from Symantec, BootitNG,
Acronis True Image. Use one of these to create a complete compressed
image of the drive which can be stored on another internal drive (least
desirable option), burned to DVD, or put on an external drive. Stomp,
Inc.'s Backup My PC is also very good though pricey. It's the modern
day version of NTbackup.

How are you doing the backup?

If you are using one of the older versions of PowerQuest Drive Image, then
yes you need a floppy. The latest version does not suffer from this legacy
device!

Personally, I use Drive Image 7 to backup to an external Maxtor 250GB USB2
HDD. This drive is reserved for backups and archives so it is generally
un-powered.

WOW! It is cool.
I backed my system up with GHOST, I could not burn it on a CD-R, because
the image file was bigger than 1GB.
So, I just created a small partition for it.
But I dont know when will my HDD down.
