Toshiba P100 Keyboard missing keys when HID driver loaded

Hi,

I have had the P100 for a few months running XP Pro SP2, and noticed
that very second or third word would miss registering the key presses
and the touch pad would move smoothly for a few seconds then jerk to a
different point on the path the cursor was moving on..

After investigation, I have found it was the HID driver (generic MS
one). I disabled the driver, and now, no missing keys and the touchpad
works without an issue.

So, my question is: What does the HID Keyboard Driver do? Toshiba dont
want to know about the problem, and want to blame the OS. There is NO
toshiba HID driver.

Any ideas?

I think this driver is related to the USB HID devices (mice, keyboards).
Open Device Manager->Human Interface Devices->
Open Properties of a listed device, then you should see its name (look in
the "Location:" also).
I guess this device doesn't work anymore after you disable the driver?
There is a registry tweak so that also non-active devices become visible
with a shadad icon (something you once connected to the USB but isn't
connected anymore).

You should bother Toshiba with this seriously because this is a common
problem on the P100 and M60, but they don't seem to know much about it and
they tend to cure it with keyboard or motherboard replacement, but only if
one complains persistently.
