KB911895 disables volume keys on MS multimedia keyboard

I was presented with KB911895 HID Non-user Input Data filter in windows
update. I installed it and now the volume +/- keys do not work on the
keyboard. Everything else still works including mute. I have installed the
latest version of IntelliType and no change. I have rolled back the driver in
device manager. This patch does not appear in "add or remove programs" so I
can't uninstall it. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jim

It didn't affect my Saitek keyboard that way, but my screensaver still
doesn't work. I have found no way to uninstall KB911985, either.
I would try uninstalling your KB software, shut down your PC, and hook up a
different KB. After booting back up, shut it back down, hook up your MS KB
and boot back up. Reinstall the software and see if that takes care of it.
That method fixed the small problem I had with my MS wireless mouse after
the update.

Thanks Tom.

I unistalled the device in device manager. Removed the keyboard from the
system. Rebooted with a different usb keyboard. Uninstalled intellitype.
Rebooted. I then downloaded the latest intellitype from MS and installed it.
Plugged in the multimedia keyboard. Rebooted. The volume keys still don't
work. MS update is still trying to install this patch. I disabled that.

Any other ideas?
Jim

Ehlo moraseski,
Sorry for the suggestion, but have you tried checking the Show Updates checkbox
in Add/Remove programs dialog? That show present you with all KBs installed.

Yes, I had looked there. I don't see any entry for that KB. Do you know if it
is under some other name?

Thanks,
Jim

Ehlo moraseski,
My problem is that I can't find the installation file for this. If you could
get the MSI file, you could run it with /uninstall switch to cause uninstall
of the KB patch. Any idea where it could be downloaded from?

SC Tom and Jim - are these both wireless devices?

I am too lazy to read.
