Toshiba DVD-Rom SD-M1202 Problems

Not sure why, but it seems that recently my DVD-Rom drive has decided that it doesn't want to read any discs put into it. When I put a disc in, naturally the drive starts spinning the disc and trying to read it but instead of it autoplaying, or me being able to click on the drive icon in My Computer, it tells me that there is nothing on the disc. BTW there is DEFINITELY something on the discs that I'm putting in, in fact the majority of the discs that I'm putting in are DVD discs. Just wondering if someone can help me out or at least confirm that they too are also having problems with this drive.

I happen to be having the same problem and have contacted Toshiba's Tech support to attempt to resolve the problem. As a sideline, did your drive come preinstalled in a Hewlett Packard Pavillion. As this may be a factor.

I am having the same problem and my drive did come preinstalled with a
Pavilion notebook. My Toshiba drive is SD R1202. Can you post the response
you get from Toshiba, they didn't seem to have any answers for me. Neither
do HP, except that I should do a complete system reformat which means I
would lose all data and as the CD drive isn't working, I'm unable to back
up. Any suggestions?

Sue
