DVD Rom not being recognised

I have both a DVD-ROM and a DVD-RW drive installed. Windows can see my
DVD-ROM, however when I insert any type of disc, whether a game, music or
movie, Windows is not able to run the disc from this drive. My RW drive works
fine when I insert the same discs. Is there a setting within Windows that is
required to enable me to use the ROM drive?

Regards,
Vels.

Did the DVD-ROM hardware fail? You could try uninstalling it in device
manager and see if Windows can reinstall it.

I've uninstalled and when I restarted, Windows detected the device and
installed the necessary drivers. However the problem still exists.
