Sony DVD-ROM

OK, new to this newsgroup thing, but I need help.

I recently installed a Sony DDU1632 DVD-ROM drive to my computer. I'm
trying to run programs off of a DVD-ROM disc, and I'm getting an error that
says that the disc is unreadable by WindowsXP. Now, I'm confused, because I
can browse the disc's contents in Windows Explorer perfectly fine. Any ideas
what can cause this problem?

Try washing the disc in warm water and a liquid soap, if no help.... once I
tried to install a game, it cound'nt be done so I booted into safe mode and
it installed just fine, give this a try.

Some programs will only run when they get installed to the hd.

Andrew, could you possibly be any more clueless? The OP isn't
attempting to run a program, he's trying to scan the disk with Windows
Explorer.

OK, nevermind...the I/O error was a ribbon cable problem, changed the cables
around, and now it works. Thanks for your comments though, I'll keep those
in mind if I have an error again.
