DVD not detected anymore with JustLink DVD+RW RW5240, CD-ROM works fine

Hi there,

I have a JustLink (Ricoh) RW5240 DVD-writer in my PC which suddenly
gives the error 'A disc with an unsupported format in drive D' when
inserting a commercial DVD-ROM in it.
This used to work fine before! I had been switching the region code
several times (now region code is set correctly to 2, but I can't
switch anymore)... could this be related to the problem?

Also, the strange thing is that I can perfectly play audio CD-ROMs via
the DVD-writer. In Windows Explorer I see 'CD-ROM-station (D:)' instead
of the expected 'DVD-RW-station (D:)'.

Can you please tell me how I can fix this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Tommy Dhondt

DVD drives have two lasers in them, one for the CD side and one for the DVD
side. If it isn't seeing any DVDs, then the DVD laser may have died.
