another comment about Toshiba A75-2112. this laptop have XP Home
preinstalled, but I needed XP PRO in order to use IIS, so I bought Windows
XP Pro Upgrade Version ($200). Just in vain cause the preinstaled OEM XP
Home CAN NOT be upgraded and their customer service doesn't know any work
around, so the Norton GHOST restore DVD is useless, so I had to create a
good one myself.
this laptop has been a nightmare to me. sorry for the Toshiba's fans

heyy, BestBuy is right, my model number is no in Toshiba's defective models
list!!!
so I guess is not BestBuy's fault but Toshiba's
I guess they are going to include it when all laptops are already sold.

There is no defective model listing at Toshiba's website.

Why do you not just take it to an Authorised Toshiba Service Center and let
them take a look at it and see what it wrong, hardware wise.

As for software, that's entirely up to you.... if you wish to install XP Pro
you can happily do this... I did it with my A75. But I did a clean install
which is ALWAYS the way to go.

Now do you feel better for continuing to rant and rave on this newsgroup as
opposed to following Toshiba's instructions and actually trying to get it
fixed?

Cari,

His problem is, he wants a new one instead of getting it repaired. First he
complains about a problem with it in one post, then complains about changing
the OS in another. If he keeps this up, it will look to be more of a user
error then a hardware error. I don`t know why he didn`t get the model with
XP Pro on it instead of home. Usually places offer the models with either
OS correct? Hopefully he will come to his sense and take it to a Authorised
Toshiba Service Center.

I am beginning to think that he is a troll, and not the sharpest of that
type either..

class action suite.

Mine is in the Toshiba Service Center right now... from the static problem.
I just pulled out my old 2805-S402 in the meantime. A P3 850mhz is
exceedingly slow compared to a P3 3.2Ghz but it still works.

I doubt he's going to get a replacement... and if he does, what's to say the
new one doesn't have the same static problem! Mine is only 3 weeks old!

If he won't follow Toshiba's advice, I guess he might as well trash it and
get another brand!
