Yes I have and I need a new video canrd and several up dates from some
programs I am just a little scared for I don'w want to screw up my comp. You
know loose any photos or files...

A very reasonable concern, and that's why I suggest a complete backup of
*everything* you would be unhappy to lose -- before you take one single
step!
Have you heard of Norton Ghost? I am wondering if I should keep it because
it can use a lot of space..

I have no experience with Norton software since Symantec bought Peter
out many years ago (a pity). I've heard several people (who know more
than I do) say that Norton products are not a good match for Vista (yet)
so be cautious. I do know that Acronis makes a similar product, and
I've had only favorable experiences with that company so far.

Assuming that's a serious question, I'd advise you to do a clean install
in a separate partition, and don't enter any product key when asked.
That will allow you to use Vista legally for 30 days so you can decide
for yourself whether you like it or not. Simple, and safe.

And if he doesn't like it, he loses the money he spent for it, correct?

No. But he may need to wait for MS to fix some bugs and for hardware
vendors to [finally get off their butts and] supply device drivers which
work in Vista.

Look, you won't find anyone more hostile to MS than I've been for the
past twenty years -- but I am (finally!) seeing signs of enlightenment
at MS now that BillyG has stepped down. I don't want to see MS punished
just at the time they are finally trying to do the right thing!

OTOH, I'd like to see Uncle Fester follow BillyG down the retirement
trail...
