toolbars

Somehow, a new toolbar (Isearch) appeared in my browser
and I can't get rid of it. Also, I've found that all my
toolbars are locked. I go to View where supposedly you
can unlock them, but there is no such option. Nor any
option to customize toolbars. I have explorer 6.0 so why
are these options missing?

Hi,

You may wish to consider the following article:

http://www.pchell.com/support/click2findnow.shtml

This specifically deals with how to remove i-search. Included in the
article is a link to a removal utility.

In more general terms, you may wish to consider downloading Ad, available from:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Once you download and install the program, ensure that you have updated it
with the latest definition. This will ensure that you will be protected against
the latest versions of such programs.

Another good program is CWShredder, found at:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

Altrus

The first program below seems to deal with I-Lookup which
is different than I-Search. In any case, it doesn't look
like this deals with the main issue: why don't I
have "lock the toolbars" and "customize" options off the
View/Toolbar menus, and how can I get them back?

From Mike Burgess:
First, rename your HOSTS file as "iSearch" hijacks that also,
preventing you from reaching many "anti-spyware" sites (including mine
Then download and run Ad-Aware (see below)

They also disable several other IE toolbar functions!

Copy and paste the below to Notepad
"File Types" drop-down menu = all files
Save as: UnlockToolbar.reg

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explor
er]
"NoBandCustomize"=dword:00000000
"NoToolbarCustomize"=dword:00000000
"Btn_Search"=dword:00000000
"SpecifyDefaultButtons"=dword:00000000

To use: right-click and select: Merge
