Tool bar has disappeared

I am using Windows 2000 Professional. My "Toolbar" at the
top of my screen that has " File, Edit, Print", etc. has
disappeared & I can't get it to come back. It is not slid
to the side or the bottom...it is just totally gone. I
have tried everything I know of to get it back...can't
find anything in the helps that addresses this issue....
Has anyone else had this happen? What can I do to correct
it?
 
Windows doesn't have such a bar by itself. Do you mean that you've lost the
menu bar of an application (such as Word or Excel)? If so, state which
application and which version.

Also, clarify whether you mean the toolbar (with icons on it), or the menu
bar (which is sounds like you're talking about).
