Thats the best route JJ. I`m sure you already realise this is a very good NG
and, apart from the odd sexist crankie, enjoys an educational input from some
excellent dedicated people. Thankfully, they are few and far between - the
crankies I mean ;)

Yup, but let's face it, they are EVERYWHERE!! LOL You try to give them a
chance, and if they don't take it, oh well, bye-bye.

Hope your having a good evening, I think our ice/snow storm is about done
for tonight. We really can't complain, mom nature was pretty good to us till
now.

Enjoy, and TTYS.....:-)

I agree we should keep this NG "very good". One way to achieve this is
to direct all the "crankies" to:

news://microsoft.public.windowsupdate

where they can post all their updates about Windows and related announcements. We
should keep this newsgroup for spyware announcements only - the original
intention of creating this NG in the first place. Why else would MS create different NGs if
i d i o t s can post anything they like on any newsgroups? Mind
boggles. D i l d o for you then!!

to tell you the truth, the updates actually relate to spyware because the
updates are suppose to patch the system to prevent spyware/malware/trojans
etc.
and one of the updates in particular effects Windows Defender
and since we all try to work together here, if you do not want to read about
updates here just pass by this post. No one is forcing you to read it,
unless you are curious.
There is actually no post here to conflicts with the updates, those who post
problems are directed to windows update newsgroup, but since we are a really
nice group here and have been around since WD was in beta, if we can help
each other, whynot? That is just a plus to this newsgroup.

In general you can't be more incorrect. If you have an issue on Windows update then it is strictly meant for Windows Update Newsgroup. I am providing you a link for it below and I am sure you are capable enough to find it and configure your email client to receive the postings from that NG.

If this was the case then discuss that update only. The original message contained details about 12 updates and the OP couldn't figure out why he/she was getting these updates in drips and drops rather than all in one go. This is clearly a windows Update Issue and "experts" on that NG and users with similar experiences would have been glad to share workarounds for such serious issues.

No one is forcing you to read it

Agreed I don't have to read them but I still need to download them and invariably one can't rely on subject headings only as they are invariably misleading and incorrect. One still needs to read some of it before deciding that it is all tosh!

I gather that you don't rules to follow, right? Unfortunately or fortunately, a civilised society is only made thru rules and regulations otherwise we would have laws of the jungle.
problems are directed to windows update newsgroup,

Incorrect again. People started talking about weather issues in their part of the world. This is clearly not the place to discuss such things.
but since we are a really nice group here and have been around since WD was in beta,

Yes, I agree you are all very nice people and please continue to be so as your valuable insights into Windows Defender is very much appreciated. However, longetivity of your presence here does not entitle you to abuse the facility and start chit-chat with fellow posters on the NG.

Let us say we have agreed to disagree on the fundamental difference but we agree on the basic premise that you are "really nice group" and hope it stays that way.

The link to Windows update NG is here:

Have a nice day wherever you are on this wonderful planet.

Best regards and keep it up.

The rules for these communities can be found here:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/conduct/default.mspx

Whether or not a discussion of the weather in some specific place is
appropriate to these groups is definitely debateable.

Your responses to individuals in a number of instances aren't debateable at
all--they involve direct personal attacks.

If your aim is really to improve the groups by keeping us on topic, I'd
suggest that you leave off the extraneous personal attacks.
