A NEW December Update

Alan

Hi all,

Because of the discussion in other threads about some people not getting
December's MSRT -- which I HAD gotten when I manually updated on Tuesday --
I decided to go to the Windows Update just now and run a Custom Scan.

In addition to the latest Window Defender definition being offered --
KB915597 (Definition 1.49.369.0) -- there is another critical update being
shown: Security Update for Windows XP (KB954600).

When I click on more details for this update, here's the information that's
given:

Hi Alan...That is the one that first failed me on tuesday, then about 5
minutes later, it came in. Only off thing I got about midnight today, was the
MRT. I checked a little while ago to see if there was anything else lurking,
but guess I have them all now.

Thanks again, and have a nice day. :)

According to my log file [KB954600.log] this update was released and
installed with the Others on Patch Tuesday 12-09-08 at 9:37pm CST with all

Hi Tim,

It wasn't in my download history from Tuesday's downloads on the Windows
Update site, so I took it today. :->

I don't know what's going on. Nothing I see about 954600 says anything
other than rev 1.0. dated December 9.

Sometimes a patch will be re-released with different detection logic when it
is realized that it needs to be applied to more boxes--but I don't see any
indication of that so far.

if ms has problems why not just hold up on everything and re-release on the
next day
not all of us have only one computer to do you know :p

My guess would be that because of pressure on the servers, somehow that one
got missed on Tuesday, and things have lightened up and you got it today. I
am surprised that if you are on AutoUpdate it didn't come in overnight,
though.
