Tin sounding audio when importing video to Movie Maker

Bill

I have a .avi file which when importing to Movie Maker the audio has a tin
background noise when played in Movie Maker. The file plays and sounds fine
in Media Player. Would appreciate advice how I may be able to make the
audio in the avi file play sound normal in Movie Maker. Bill

Thank you for responding to my post. I am not sure how to I.D. whether my
avi file is dv.avi or something else. I reviewed the link to avicodec, but
there is warning AVI Codec Pack contains a trojan spyware.

If I don't have the correct avi file is there a way to modify my file so it
will work?

Bill
Ooops should have put this link in for avicodec

mjpeg does not work properly in MM, convert it to wmv using something like
super, listed on the same page.
I'm surprised that the link to avicodec gave you problems, was this reported
by your anti-virus? If so, I'll check it out and remove if neccessary. I
just find it easier for novies to use than Gspot.
