What services need to run to use time syncronization in XP.

When I try to sync I get a "An error occurred getting the status of
the last syncronization. The RPC server is unavailable" :-(

According to SERVICES.MSC there are no dependencies on any other service for the Windows Time service. Go to Start, Run and enter SERVICES.MSC Locate the Windows Time service and make sure its set to Started and Automatic.

In Control Panel - Admin tools - Services, you need the upper of the two
'Remote Procedure call (RPC)' entries on Started and automatic - for
other things too. it getting turned off may be a symptom of infection
with the Blast worm or a friend; double click it and in Recovery set
First Failure and Second failure as 'restart the service' and the set
Startup type to Automatic.

You should also have Windows Time on Started and Automatic
