Thumbs.db file

Hello I have in my >pictures folder, a database file, 2,3 meg Thumbs.db.
What is this file ? Can I delete it without any nasty consequences??
Any advice appreciated. Phil

Thumbs.db was created when you chose to view that folder in thumbnail mode,
to preview the contents of the files. It is alright to delete, and it will
just be created again if you switch back to thumbnail mode.
