Virus scan of Thumbs.db

I'd be grateful if someone could tell me how to stop a Norton pop up
(sometimes 10 times a minute), saying "Windows Explorer is waiting for a
virus scan of Thumbs.db"

This is some sort of file that accompanies photographs.

Advice on how to stop these scan requests would be hugely appreciated.

One simple fix would be to add Thumbs.db
to the Norton Auto-Protect Exclusion list.

Another possibility would be to disable
Thumbs.db...this is accomplished by
opening a folder and going to...Tools /
Folder Options / View tab...Check...
"Do Not Cache Thumbnails" / Apply / OK.

Check "do not cache thumbnails" in folder options. View tab.

I'd look at Norton options, the turn off will be there.

Many thanks to John and Mary for the suggestions, which I will now go and
apply. I'm sure all the recommendations will work, so I will start with
the simplest and work backwards if necessary...

My problems with Norton and this file are a fantastic example of bad
organisation. It's been irritating me for months and months - it's been so
intrusive - but only now have I got round to asking for advice on how to stop
it!

Anyway thanks loads - it will be extremely nice when it stops.

Best wishes,
Canna
