Thumbnails incorrect in My Pictures

R

Robert Carroll

Pictures in My Pictures folder all have thumbnails, but
some of these are not the same as the pictures themselves.
Double-clicking on the thumbnail brings up Windows Picture
and Fax Viewer which shows a different picture than its
thumbnail. Copying the picture to a different drive does
not correct the problem.

How can I get the pictures and the thumbnails to be the same?

How can I get the pictures and the thumbnails to be the same?

Hi Robert,

I've had this same problem in My Pictures folder and found the reason to be
that both photos have the same name.

Try right clicking on the problem thumbnail and using "Send To" to send it
to another location....say the desktop. Then you should be able to see a
different photo in each location. Then you can rename the one you sent to
the desktop, move it back to my pictures and be able to view both thumbnails
in My Pictures.

Hope this solves the problem!

Using your suggestion, I fixed the problem. However, my
problem was not caused by two photos having the same
name. When I sent the photo to the desktop, it had a
different name, and a different but incorrect picture
replaced the of the same name in My Pictures folder.

To fix, I copied all the contents of My Pictures to a
folder on the desktop, deleted My Pictures folder, and
created another My Pictures folder. Copying back from
the desktop put the thumbnails correctly.

Hiya

I have a similar prob (see post above - somewhere above)

My PSD (Adobe Photoshop files) are displayed as default
PSD file icons rather than thumbnails of the image.
JPEGs are OK as are some older PSDs I created with
Photoshop 30-day trial version or The Gimp. But new PSD
images do not appear as thumbnails = h-e-l-p

You need to turn on the thumbnails in Photoshop. Windows does not
recognize (AFIK) psd files as photos and cannot generate a pwsd
thumbnail.

Note many reports of problems when Photoshop generates thumbnails of its
files.
