I just came onboard as a tech with this company that is just now using
Outlook 2003, Windows XP, SP2. They've implemented Active Directory and
Windows 2003 for the first time. Like I said, I'm new but can navigate around
the basics of Outlook 2003 with the best of them. But we've since upgraded
their old email system, which was a combination of one or two other email
clients, into Exchange 2007. A migration. I'm used to Outlook 2003 and that's
what our basic end users have. The tech staff has Office 2007, though because
of licenses, etc. Because of budgetary issues, all users save their data
locally on their PCs. I haven't checked to see if their PSTs are cached or
not though. Okay, the question is that one of our users ended up with THREE
inboxes in her Outlook 2003 on her office PC after our recent Exchange
mailbox migration. Today she said that she's been with the company since 2005
and she's been archiving her email since then, locally. She wanted to
consolidate all that email into one Inbox and delete the other two. As a
tech, how do I assist her with this without notifying the novice network team
(who's based 1000miles away) and not MANUALLY moving each email over one at a
time or in a group? Wouldn't that slow her system down to a crawl? You know,
this probably would be a good exercise to perform late one Friday night? How
do I help this poor lady move 3 years worth or better yet, consolidate 3
years worth of email into ONE Inbox? Thanks in advance for your response(s)!!
