This Radeon 9600pro not worth the aggrivation

Well this 9600pro sure not working like everyone told me it would, I've
tried the drivers that came with it, I've tried the 4.3 drivers/control
pannel and even the lastest 4.5 drivers. Have had this card for about 2
weeks, and still goes nuts on me, it plays games great, but when I try to do
other things on the net like down load a file it looses everything and goes
garbled. Even the support that wants a report don't work . I've tried
differant setting as well only thing now is that my MB just don't like it.
Here is the properties for system:
Graphics Chipset (ASIC) RADEON 9600 SERIES

Subsystem Vendor ID 18bc

Bus Type AGP 1X,AGP 2X, AGP 4X
Current Bus Setting AGP 4X

BIOS Version 008.015
BIOS Date 2004/01/16

Memory Size 256MB
Memory Type DDR SGRAM/SDRAM

Primary Display Yes

Driver File
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ati2dva...
2D Version 6.14.10.6430
Display Driver Version 7.991-040224m-013831C-ATI
Control Panel Version 6.14.10.6430

I have checked the DirectX controls and everything is suppose to work good.
I'm at my wits ends here, for I have tried and tried but still no luck has
Anyone have some solutions here..

Did you turn of VPU recover, fast write? Those two solved all of my issues.
And definitely make sure you are using the 4.6 drivers.
OH and VERY IMPORTANT - make sure you have the latest bios on your
MOTHERBOARD!

Sounds like you still have remnants of the 4.3 drivers
hanging around. You really have to flush those old
drivers, and that is not easy. I had the same headaches
with 4.3, and the problems persisted with 4.5 until I
went back and totally removed any sign of the old
drivers using the ATI uninstall program, and RegClean.
Plus, I just browsed for left over stuff and deleted it.
Once I did that, and reinstalled the 4.5 drivers, my
system cleaned up and runs without problems. There
is a site that says you also should remove other ATI
programs as well, and they describe why. I did not
do that, but I think the ATI removal tool did that
anyway.

theres also a chance that your mobo AGP drivers have been corrupted. try reinstalling them (for
some reason, messign about with lots of catalyst driver changes in a row seems to knock them out on
my machine, might be the case with yours as well.

Thats what must have been happening, did like you said. Used the
Cat.uninstaller then run Nortons Utilies to clean out unregistered files
then run Clean disk.. Rebooted and installed 4.6 everything seems to be
working but thats what I thought a few days ago..
Thanks there J. and S.B..

But this time I remembered so fore so good. Have done a few file

stable..

Hay Bob.:
Hmmmmmmm that I'm not sure of, checked all the Sis systems and tried
to update all I could find. But I THINK I installed the chipsets inf utiliy
but can't remember.. Is there anyway to check. Systems seem to be better now
but it does hang every now and then but its sure better than it was.
