SAPPHIRE RADEON 9200 256MB problems

N

Nope

I've actually installed an AGP SAPPHIRE RADEON 9200 256MB on an Abit KG7
with an Athlon 1400 512MB DDR. The mobo BIOS settings ARE OK.

At first I've installed the official drivers...but performances was
awful...even moving windows and scrolling text was scattering and slow!

UNBELIEVEBALE! Even a G400 32MB can work better!

So, I uninstalled them all and I tried to install the original drivers on
the original videocard's cd....and it works better....but those drivers were
dated 2003....so I had bad performances in gaming.....

I think it's an unusual driver problem.....

What should I do?

I've used an ATI RADEON 9200SE 128MB DDR and it works better.....how is it
possible?
How can I make it work?

Which could be the problem?

Is it possible that I have a strange card such as an hybrid 9250 working as
a 9200? I've tried to find some pictures, and I've seen that my card looks
like a 9250 even if it's nominally a 9200...in other, when I've installed
catalyst 6.5 in the properities the string-card-id was 9200/9250 SERIES.....

and i've heard that ATI sometimes change default BIOS settings for market
strategies.....

Because of this I'm aware to update BIOS....

Suggestions?

When this happens even after a reboot, reinstall the AGP GART drivers. This
is a known quirk.

I think you will have bad performance in gaming regardless... the Radeon
9200 is a low-end card.

The 9200 and 9250 uses the same RV280 GPU, the same memory type and
interface. The only difference is the 9200 GPU runs at 250 MHz while the
9250 GPU runs at 240 MHz... A "hybrid" has no meaning here: the 9200 and
9250 are pretty much the same.
