Didn't think you had any...

Never claimed I did.

You and Alias really tickle me. What have you got to hide?

So, Microsoft knows what kind of hardware I am running on. *****BIG
DEAL*****

They know my IP address. Again, *****BIG DEAL*****

Almost any web site you log onto can extract much the same information, but
as long as you guys are getting your porno or free music- it is all right,
right?

I don't really care if "any" software company, including Microsoft, sends a
rep to my house to take an inventory of my system. I have nothing to hide.
What are you hiding?

Hey I actually pay for both my porn and my music. Matter of fact, just
ordered a new CD/DVD set from my favorite music artist yesterday. =)

You may not care, I would. I would view it as an invasion of my privacy. It
has nothing to do with hiding. It has everything to do with privacy.

What software I run on my computer...
What hardware I use...
What I do with the above...

Is only *my* business and not anyone elses. It's simply a matter of privacy.

That'll keep MSFT from finding out everything..... ;-)

Naw, I'm good. I think that'll look better on you. =)

What does porno have to do with it? Personally, I don't do boot leg
music. With my old musical tastes, CDs are pretty cheap for me. I picked
an old Gipsy Kings CD just the other day for six euros and Miles Davis'
Kind of Blue for five.

The problem is not what one is hiding but why they want to look. You'd
get pretty tired of MS reps if they showed up every time you woke up
(rebooted). You might even call it harassment or stalking.

I have had GENUINE Vista Business, installed from a GENUINE cd, since just
after its release in 2007. It is now 26 January 2008 and today was the first
time I ever saw the "This copy of Windows is not genuine" message. All of my
functions worked ok, but I decided to get on this forum anyway for info on
why it happened. After sorting through all the angst and slams against MS, I
found WBurchnall's simple fix, did exactly as he said, and now have no more
problems.

I definitely am not as smart as all of you, so let me ask this: since I did
not have a bogus copy of Vista, why would this happen?

Right before this happened, did you update any drivers? Hardware?

Weird. Sounds like more proof that Microsoft's WGA program is buggy and
comes up with false positives.
