Don't know what to say. I'm running the same version of Windows on both
of my machines (windows xp professional sp2) and my laptop uses the same
version of adobe (upgraded) and everytime I click a link that requires Adobe
to read the page, I get this error. Sometimes it locks up my machine,
sometimes I just click okay and the page will load through adobe. Doing a
basic google search using "pdfconvert.api"
(without the quotes) brings up Nothing found.

Pdfconvert.api looks like an optional plugin. See if moving the file helps.

From
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\plug_ins"
to
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\optional".
